Local artist Draven Burdock returns to Kittie’s Highline Art Space for his second solo show, It Will Happen, on display July 2 through August 31, 2026. The Art Space is located inside Kittie’s Cakes in Old Worthington.

Draven Burdock works primarily in large-scale formats, combining acrylic paint with his signature charcoal technique. His creative process serves as a meditative practice to be in the moment. He emphasizes texture and plays with color to build a unique layering effect. His work is immersive, filled with movement and multiple focal points. Burdock’s goal is for viewers to lose themselves within each piece, feel the energy behind his process, and form their own personal narratives. Ultimately, his work invites audiences to find a peaceful escape in the beauty of the present moment through art.

“The key for me to be satisfied with a piece of artwork comes from self-reflection,” Burdock explains. “Art is both an escape from reality and a way to process life. I find beauty not only in the composition but also within the sense of relief I experience while I’m creating. I choose to make quick, emotional bursts of color tied to memories with a strong focus on the process of painting. The emphasis is on truly freeing self-expression. I know a piece is complete when I feel contented.”

Burdock has always approached the world with a nontraditional creative perspective, finding ways to connect nearly every experience back to art. During high school, he spent much of his time immersed in the art program at Thomas Worthington High School, where supportive teachers encouraged his artistic vision and helped foster his creative freedom. His previous exhibition at Kittie’s sold out, leading to lasting relationships with collectors who commissioned additional pieces. His work has earned four Silver Keys and an Honorable Mention in the Scholastic Art & Writing Awards presented by Columbus College of Art & Design, and he has exhibited at the McConnell Arts Center.
