Central Ohio artist Neera Sharma makes her debut at Kittie’s Highline Art Space in Worthington with her exhibit Silk on Silk, Silk Dye, running from January 4 through February 28, 2025.

A self-taught silk painter, Sharma has cultivated her unique style through a combination of online learning and personal experimentation. Her artistic journey began with painting silk and chiffon scarves, often exploring themes of florals, landscapes, and animals.

Sharma’s work is characterized by the use of two distinct techniques: one that creates sharp, defined edges and another that produces soft, feathery transitions. “I like to challenge myself,” Sharma shares. “I decided to make silk art without using the resist. It gave me freedom, like working in watercolor with no boundaries.” Through this innovative approach, Sharma captures fleeting moments of beauty and transforms them into vibrant, lasting works of art. Her pieces can be found in art shows throughout central Ohio, where she continues to share her passion for capturing nature’s elegance through the delicate medium of silk.
