Central Ohio artist Rebecca Burdock returns to Highline Coffee Art Space in Worthington with her new exhibit, “100 Days,” showing November 2 –December 31, 2021.
Typically a pen-and-ink artist, Burdock, owner of Rebecca Ink., LLC, embarked on a completely different artistic challenge on February 8, 2021, when she began a 100 Day Project with a goal to create a work of art each day using watercolor or mixed media while learning new skills. Using a daily online prompt for suggested subject matter, Burdock completed the 100 Day Project and then continued to create work in a new self-initiated series, “Beyond 100 Days.” Whimsical and light-hearted, the artworks included in the exhibit come from her months-long journey. Her posts of the project on social media platforms have gained Burdock significant attention as followers check in to see what she creates next.
“Trying new techniques and mediums is absolutely liberating,” Burdock explains. “My typical pen-and-ink work is so controlled and time consuming; it’s fun to be able to switch it up! It took me about sixty days to find my footing with the new mediums.”
Burdock’s artwork can be discovered throughout central Ohio in several locations. She usually exhibits at least twice each year and participates in the Westerville Music and Art Festival most summers. Recently, Burdock assumed the role of director and curator of Highline Coffee Art Space.
“I am so excited to have Rebecca's intricate yet playful work displayed in the Art Space again,” says Christie Bruffy, owner and manager of Highline Coffee Co. “Her art always brings a smile to my face. In fact, this is why we decided to start selling her beautiful coloring pages in the shop last year. Rebecca is an amazing asset to Highline as curator of the Art Space, and her creative and positive nature continues to help pull us through this pandemic to the other side.”
