Meet the artist, Rebecca Burdock of Rebecca Ink., LLC

Hello! I'm Rebecca of Rebecca Ink. I became the curator of the Kittie's Highline Art Space in January of 2021. It is an absolute joy to meet new artists and display their work. I am learning so much behind the scenes about their processes. My mission is to bring art to every home and every person.

Highline Coffee sold to Steve and Diane Herman of Kittie's Cakes in January 2023. They are proud to add a third location in Worthington. Come in for a fresh cup of Oneline coffee, and grab a hand-crafted pastry - delivered to the store daily!

Although the owners have changed, the Art Space remains the same intimate art gallery located inside Kittie's Highline. Showcasing the work of artists who live in central Ohio, the Art Space endeavors to support local artists while offering a welcoming and enriching environment. Come visit and enjoy the art!

Opening July 2, 2024
Draven Burdock

Central Ohio artist Draven Burdock makes his debut at Kittie’s Highline Art Space in Worthington with his exhibit, “Lively Places,” showing July 2–August 31, 2024.

Burdock works primarily in large format with acrylic and signature charcoal. His creative process serves as a meditative practice to be in the moment. He emphasizes texture and plays with color interactions with how he mixes the paint in relation to the subject matter – ultimately creating a unique layering effect with many focal points. Burdock’s goal is to have viewers lose themselves in each piece, feel the energy of his love for painting, and make their own narrative. In the end, allowing people to find an escape in the present, peacefully in the beauty of art.

“The key for me to be satisfied with a piece of artwork comes from self-reflection,” Burdock explains. “Art is an escape from reality and a way to process life. I find beauty focused not solely on composition, but also within my state of relief as I create. I choose to make quick and emotional bursts of color tied to memories with a strong focus on the painting process and an emphasis on truly freeing self-expression. I know a piece is complete when I feel contented.”

A child of two artists, Burdock has always had an unconventional mind. He finds creative ways to tie any moment to art. During his time in high school, you would be sure to locate him by visiting the art program. With his wonderful teachers’ trust in his visions, he found a new creative freedom at Thomas Worthington. This enabled him to win four silver keys and an honorable mention at the Scholastics Art and Writing Awards presented by the Columbus College of Art and Design. Additionally, his work was displayed at the McConnel Art Center in Worthington.

Steve and Diane Herman, owners of Kittie’s, are excited to show Burdock’s work. “It’s easy to lose yourself in Draven Burdock’s abstract artwork!” the Hermans share. The Hermans own two other Kittie’s Cakes locations in central Ohio where they are proud to offer new twists on family favorites alongside amazing coffee.
