Hello! I'm Rebecca of Rebecca Ink. I became the curator of the Kittie's Highline Art Space in January of 2021. It is an absolute joy to meet new artists and display their work. I am learning so much behind the scenes about their processes. My mission is to bring art to every home and every person.
Highline Coffee sold to Steve and Diane Herman of Kittie's Cakes in January 2023. They are proud to add a third location in Worthington. Come in for a fresh cup of Oneline coffee, and grab a hand-crafted pastry - delivered to the store daily!
Although the owners have changed, the Art Space remains the same intimate art gallery located inside Kittie's Highline. Showcasing the work of artists who live in central Ohio, the Art Space endeavors to support local artists while offering a welcoming and enriching environment. Come visit and enjoy the art!
Opening May 2, 2024
Beth Veldey
Central Ohio artist Beth Veldey makes her debut at Kittie’s Highline Art Space in Worthington with her exhibit, “Just Walking Around,” showing May 2 – June 30, 2024.
After a long career in banking, Veldey’s retirement plan was to learn how to paint. Thinking she may have some raw talent but no formal education, she began taking classes at the McConnell Art Center. There she found adult students like herself, great teachers and a never-too-late atmosphere. Working primarily in oil paint and colored pencil, Veldey’s process is that of the masters. Starting with detailed black and white drawings and applying five to ten thin glazes of paint to achieve an incredible depth and richness.
“My work is a search for tranquility, a quiet place or a quiet of the mind.” Veldey explains. “I am drawn to explore the beauty and complexity of small things – the textures and patterns of plants, pathways, patterns on sand after the tide is out, lichens on tree bark. Painting vignettes of what I see along the path is a search for serenity and an extension of my long-time interest in plant collecting and gardening.”
Veldey is an accomplished artist who has been juried into and won awards in local competitions including the Annual Bryn Du Art Show, the Ohio State Fair Fine Arts Competition and Hit the Hop. She is associated with the Worthington Area Art League and has displayed in group shows at the McConnell Arts Center.
Steve and Diane Herman, owners of Kittie’s, are excited to show Veldey’s work. “The detail work in Beth’s pieces is impeccable!” the Hermans share. The Hermans own two other Kittie’s Cakes locations in central Ohio where they are proud to offer new twists on family favorites alongside amazing coffee.
Experience Columbus and Columbus Underground named Kittie’s Highline Art Space (formerly Highline Coffee Art Space) as one of central Ohio’s suburban art galleries not to be missed.
