Local artist Lee Ann Lander returns to Kittie’s Highline Art Space with her latest exhibition, Flow, on display September 2 - October 31st, 2026. “Art is about the process of creating,” Lander explains. “I approach my work with curiosity and allow myself to experiment.” Lander's artwork investigates nature through a close-up, cellular lens with a particular fascination for repeating patterns. Working across several different art forms and mediums, Lander’s work is connected by themes of flow, movement, and depth. Her creative process is driven by exploration and discovery, allowing the materials and patterns within each piece to guide her. Rather than focusing solely on the finished artwork, Lander places an emphasis on the process of creating and the experience of being engaged with the work.

Lander teaches several methods and mediums at the Peggy R. McConnell Arts Center, where she encourages others to explore their creativity and embrace the process of making art. Her teaching reflects the same philosophy that guides her own work: that experimentation, curiosity, and the act of creating are just as important as the finished piece.

As artificial intelligence continues to change the creative landscape, Lander is an advocate for humans making art and using their creativity. She believes there is something deeply meaningful about the act of creating with our own hands, exploring ideas, making discoveries, and allowing ourselves the freedom to experiment.
