Kelly Reichert: Influences
In her second solo show, central Ohio artist Kelly Reichert exhibits a select collection of new mixed media work at Highline Coffee Art Space, January 5 - March 2, 2021.
A contemporary artist whose paintings are known for bright color, pattern, dynamic drawing, and the shimmer of metallics, Reichert reveals that her art is often self-referential as she explores themes of solitude, relationship, identity, and language.
“My current work examines many of the motifs, styles, and people that have had an impact on my life.,” Reichert explains. “Recently, I’ve felt the mark left by my mentor and dear friend, Otterbein professor Joanne Stichweh, who passed away last year. By using snippets of conversation and thematic elements in my newer pieces, I’ve paid homage to her memory. In addition, I revisited the work of other artists whom I have admired. The paintings in this exhibit are a melange of colors, patterns, words, and feelings that are a personal expression of gratitude to what has gone before.”
Focusing on drawing, painting, ceramics, and photography, Reichert earned a degree in visual arts from Otterbein University and studied at Miami University. A Worthington native, she has shown in several regional solo and juried group exhibits. Reichert is also the owner and a resident artist of 3060 Artworks and a member of the Worthington Area Art League and Ohio Art League.
“We're always delighted to see Kelly's bright and expressive work at the Art Space,” says Christie Bruffy, owner and manager of Highline Coffee Co. “Despite the ongoing safety restrictions, we remain committed to showcasing the diverse work of talented local artists in the best way we can.”
